From the “Steps” project, supported by GEOforCHILDREN for children from Bukovski and Mytischi orphanages, comes a new initiative always supported by GEOforCHILDREN: the new project “Home Alone”.
The “Home Alone” project for children from Mytischi orphanage has as the main objective the the socialization of children and the development of basic skills they will need in their adult and independent life.
With this new project, 15- to 18-year-old teenagers are going to live in pairs or small groups in an apartement (which is located on the territory of the orphanage) for two-week periods.
During this time living alone, boys and girls learn to manage themselves independently, starting from the budgeting to the use of home appliances, from grocery shopping to daily home chores.
In this period children have to learn to become self-reliant, not to depend on their tutors, to get ready for wht they will have to face on their adult life outside the institute they are now used to.
“Home Alone” is a step forward for these boys and girls toward independece and autonomy.
